The Chavara Cultural Centre, Calicut, is a vibrant hub of learning, creativity, and social engagement. Established in the late 1990s by the CMI St. Thomas Province, the Centre embodies the noble vision of Kuriakose Elias Chavara-a visionary who believed in the transformative power of education and culture.

The Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI) Congregation, drawing inspiration from its founder, has established cultural centres in major towns across Kerala and beyond. These centres are dedicated to spreading humane values among all people, irrespective of caste, creed, or gender, fostering inclusiveness, mutual respect, and social harmony.

The Chavara Cultural Centre serves as an ideal forum where people from all walks of life can come together to exchange ideas and experiences, learn from one another, and grow collectively. It encourages the development of talents and skills while nurturing a spirit of dialogue and cooperation.

The Centre hosts a wide range of initiatives, including libraries, cultural forums, youth and children’s programmes, and eco-awareness activities. Through these diverse endeavours, it provides a dynamic space where tradition meets modernity, creativity flourishes, and the rich cultural heritage of Kozhikode is celebrated and preserved.

With its welcoming atmosphere and meaningful programmes, the Chavara Cultural Centre continues to be a beacon of cultural enrichment and community building in the heart of the city.
